What We Believe – Svetlo Života

 

At Svetlo Života (Light of Life), we exist to support Serbian families through faith-based resources, education, and outreach. We are not a church, but a ministry operated by Bible-believing Christians in Novi Sad.

 

Our work is closely connected with Balkan Baptist, a Bible-believing group dedicated to teaching God’s Word, evangelizing, and discipling believers. Our core beliefs align with historic Baptist doctrine, emphasizing the authority of Scripture, salvation by grace, and the importance of strong families and faith-based living.

📖 The Bible – Our Final Authority

 

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, preserved, and inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice, and we use a literal, historical, and grammatical interpretation of Scripture.

🛑 Salvation – By Grace Through Faith

 

We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is not by works, traditions, or religious rituals, but by trusting in the finished work of Christ on the cross (Romans 10:9-10).

​

✝ Jesus Christ – The Only Way

 

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again bodily from the dead (John 14:6, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).

💧 Baptism – A Step of Obedience

 

We believe that baptism is an act of obedience for believers, done by full immersion after salvation. It is not necessary for salvation but is a public testimony of faith in Christ (Matthew 28:19, Acts 8:36-38).

🌎 The Church – A Local Assembly of Believers

 

While Svetlo Života is not a church, we believe in the importance of the local New Testament church as God’s ordained institution for discipleship, worship, and evangelism (Acts 2:41-42).

 

We work in close partnership with Balkan Baptist, a Bible-believing group in Novi Sad committed to teaching, discipling, and spreading the Gospel in Serbia.

 

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The Family – A Biblical Institution

 

We believe that God designed the family as the foundation of society.

• ✔ Marriage is between one man and one woman for life (Genesis 2:24).

• ✔ Parents have a responsibility to teach and train their children in God’s Word (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

• ✔ Strong families build strong churches and strong communities.

• 🕊 The Holy Spirit – Our Guide & Comforter

We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer at the moment of salvation. He guides, convicts, and empowers us to live holy lives (John 16:13, Galatians 5:16-25).

​

⏳ The Future – Christ’s Return

 

We believe in the literal, bodily return of Jesus Christ, that He will judge the living and the dead, and that believers will spend eternity in the presence of God (Titus 2:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

📢 Our Mission – Evangelism & Discipleship

 

We are committed to:

✅ Preaching the Gospel boldly (Mark 16:15).

✅ Discipling believers to grow in their faith (Matthew 28:19-20).

✅ Providing free resources to strengthen families.

 

Svetlo Života exists to support, equip, and encourage believers, but we recognize the local church as God’s primary means for teaching and discipleship.
